We are sending this message to inform you that a Beta version of WinZip
9.0 Service Release 1 (SR-1) is now available at the WinZip web site.
This version of WinZip has been enhanced to warn you about some of the
most common situations in which you could become infected by a virus
compressed inside a Zip file.  Details are below.

WinZip 9.0 SR-1 is a maintenance release of WinZip 9.0.  The changes
involve general improvements to the WinZip code, bug fixes, and updates
to error messages and to the Help text.

The main new feature in this version of WinZip is that it displays
caution messages in some situations, such as when you double-click on a
.EXE file compressed within a Zip file, to warn that you are working
with a file type that could potentially contain a virus.  These caution
messages can easily be turned off by WinZip users who frequently work
with the file types involved.

If you have a registered copy of an earlier version of WinZip, please do
not uninstall it before installing the WinZip 9.0 SR-1 Beta.  When you
install the new version over your existing registered copy, you will
preserve your registration information and configuration settings.
Note:  this is a pre-release version for testing purposes.  The current
released version is WinZip 9.0.
