You can subscribe peple. Yahoogroups will send out messages to each email address giving people the option to join and I think all they have to do is reply to that message.

Ah ok that's it then - will definitely go for yahoogroups.  Do you
know if I can just put the addresses in and subscribe people?  Or will
they have to subscribe themselves?  I already have the addresses.

easiest to use?  Freelists seems to be quite widely used - is it quite
