Hi Peter,

But I assume that a totally blind person has a tongue in their head and
could ask the colour if they didn't know it? I know that my Nokia N95
regular is silver.

All the best

Steve

What a question to ask a totally blind person.

Hi Leonie,

Is it black or silver? Black equals 8GB, Silver equals regular. If it is
regular, then assisted GPS is really assisting you if you get a signal
indoors. I couldn't get good signals on my regular N95.

All the best

Steve

I'd thought it was the regular, but now I've got it working, I've
been getting a signal indoors and out. Perhaps it is the 8GB version. How
would I tell?

Hi Leonie,

Do you have the N95 regular or the N95-8GB? If the regular, forget it. You
will definitely need an external receiver, the receiver in the regular N95
is seriously rubbish. The 8GB is a different matter though.

All the best

Steve

I've tried it in a couple of different places, as well as en route
somewhere in a taxi. They were all suburban areas, so perhaps too built up?
I thought it was the lack of signal that was causing the problem, but it's
good to have that confirmed, even if I don't know my German from my Swedish!

Have you tried getting a signal in different areas with the same result? I'm
wondering if you're in a GPS blackspot where even though you're receiver is
active you're not picking up a signal from the satellites. In my experience
you only get a list of points of interest in Sweden when you haven't got a
signal.

Evening,

I've recently installed Wayfinder Access on my N95. So far, I
haven't been able to get it working and hope somebody can help.

I'm using the integrated GPS, which is switched on. I know an
external GPS would offer a better signal, but I'm wary of buying one in
case it's something else at fault.

When I load Wayfinder, the Settings menu confirms that GPS is
connected. Looking at the Info tab suggests that there is No GPS connected
though. Certainly, no relevant information on latitude, longitude etc. shows
up.

A couple of times, whilst waiting for Wayfinder to find itself, I've
tried to refresh the list of Nearby points etc. This seems to produce the
same information every time and in German. In case of doubt, I'm in Bristol
and my phone language is English...

The only other useful bit of information I can offer at this stage,
is that when Wayfinder is opened, a red cross briefly appears, then
disappears. Wayfinder support asked about this and I had to ask for sighted
help to confirm, so not sure how relevant this will be for other VI folks.

If anyone can suggest something I might try, I'd be grateful.
Thanks.

Léonie.
