Hi Elenor, I'm not sure that blind people have a fundamental right to be able to inspect goods before purchasing, although some stores do have such a policy. The RNIB certainly do not. I went into their centre in Bristol a few weeks ago and asked to have a look at their range of mobile phones and was told that they could not open up any packaging as they would have difficulty in re-selling. Certainly the John Lewis Stores will open a product and let me feel it, no matter what the product and they usually have demo models in their electrical department. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Cairns" <jackie.cairnsplace@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, May 24, 2012 10:56 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Cheap note taker for phone messages > Hi Andy > > I honestly don't know how much the cheaper range of Olympus recorders > are, but I would suspect you could get something for less than £100. > Perhaps you could try Argos, limiting your budget and asking to see a > couple to feel? > The problem with them is that they don't often let you try the goods. > I know the sort of thing you are after, but I'm thinking of quality as > well as something reasonably cheap because of your hearing difficulty. > For that reason alone, I would rule out RNIB completely and find > something on Play, Amazon or in the High Street. > > > Kind Regards, > > Jackie Cairns > > -----Original Message----- > From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On > Behalf Of ANDY COLLINS > Sent: 24 May 2012 09:29 > To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [access-uk] Re: Cheap note taker for phone messages > > Hi Jackie - > > I don't want to pay upwards of 100 quid for anything, as It's not > going to have a great deal of use, it's just for those times when I > need to jot something down as it were, you know how it goes, your on a > call, and somebody gives you a reference number, I just want to grab a > device, press a record button, and speak in to it.
