Hi,

Well I would say I wouldn't equate an unstable wireless connection with a poorly updated anti virus package.

At one time for 4 years I had a very stable internet connection and still had problems with corrupt anti virus software.

I've had problems with corrupt software/files ever since I started using Windows.

I've had several problems with file corruptions of various types, and I'm not going to go into detail about it, and I don't know enough to do so as much as I'd like, but suffice to say it seems to me that corruption is a danger in any program regardless of internet connection type/stability. It seems to me that using Windows as opposed to Linux is a contributory factor (though I've never used Linux, this is just from what I've read).

Anyway really it doesn't matter what the cause is. The thing is to keep up to date with Windows Updates, anti virus software, to understand that problems will happen whatever you do and to try and keep in touch with groups like this.

It's a hazard of the game.

Katherine, by an unstable internet connection I mean, say, you're on wireless, but it keeps dropping now and again, in fact every few minutes I have to say, for no apparent reason. As a result web pages would either load slowly or not at all, files would either be downloaded as a corrupted copy or download very slowly or even not at all, e-mails would take longer to send/receive or even have problems connecting to the server in the first place, and things like that. This is what my friend has been experiencing at college. Hope that helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Catherine Turner" <catherineturner2000@xxxxxxxxxxx>

Hello Chris,

Thanks for the info/warning, but what do you mean by an unstable internet connection?

Hi all,
I know this may sound blatently obvious, but I thought I'd warn you all,
thanks to a friend, that if your connection(s) are unstable, this may cause whatever antivirus you're using to Fail. My friend had to do a reinstall of
AVG Free today after discovering that some of the components were in an
undetermined state, and it turned out that she had lots of viruses which AVG failed to pick up before the reinstall. I do not want this to happen to you,
so this is why I'm sending the warning out. Thanks for reading!
