Hi James,

In my experience, more applications for Symbian work out of the box than do
with the iPhone or Touch. As a simple example, Navigon used to work well
for GPS, until they took voice prompts out of pedestrian mode, so they have
gone backwards.

Wayfinder continues to work for Symbian, and Ovi Maps works to a degree, but
not perfectly.

Also as far as connectivity is concerned, I can connect my Braille display
via Bluetooth with Symbian, which I can't do with an iPhone.

Also, OCR is a no-no with iPhone, since the camera is so primitive.

Finally, battery life is so poor as to make it not worth it, and the battery
is not even user replacable, so you can't just go out and buy a spare.

Don't get caught up in the hype is all I am saying, the iPhone is nice to
feel, but that's all I can say good about it.

All the best

Steve

Hi Steve,

I don't know if this is just me, but I have always had terrible trouble with
Talks and my Nokia cell phones.

I have spent some time with the IPhone, and I think I like it. I think I
would be much slower texting than I am with my current Nokia phone, but if I
did decide to use an IPhone, I would be using mainstream software which i
could use out of the box.

Also Steve, do you have any evidence to support your statement that you have
better access to applications using Talks than would using Voice Over on the
IPhone?
