Hi Andy,

You can set the home page in preferences, a bit like in Finder, you get there by pressing command comma. Btw I'm sure you've found this already, but the fn key and f2 will bring up a menu. A bit like with Windows screen readers, VO will read shortcuts associated with commands where they exist.

You can use f and shift f to move forward and backwards between edit boxes, or text fields as the Mac calls them.

Hth,

Ed - this is great as it feels a bit of a slow thing to have to use the VO roter to select all headings or radio buttons etc. Quick Nav looks a faster option. I hope something similar is available for edit boxes. Going to try and sort the music thing out first, before I play some more with Safari. By the way, is it possible to set a browser home page, not found where to do that yet, but like I say, have been spending time on other things -

Hi Andy,

I know what you mean, I still find some things quicker in Windows.

With Quicknav on, you can press h and shift h to move by headings, b and shift b to move by buttons, r and shift r to move by radio button etc. You can also use the numbers to move by heading level.

Cheers,

Thanks Ed - I'm getting on a bit better now in Safari, once I got a picture in my mind of how using vo U I could move between lists of headings, links etc, it got a bit clearer. I'm enjoyhing working with VO and the Mac, but I'm not sure, even with much practice, if navigating the Internet will ever be as speedy an experience as it was under my previous set up. Not complaining, just observing -

Hi Andy,

I was looking back at the various posts on getting up and running with Voiceover and the Mac, and I think I overcomplicated the situation when you asked whether you could quickly move round the screen using Safari.

Apologies if you've discovered this for yourself by now, but press control option h h to bring up the commands menu, and arrow all the way down to Quick Nav. Press enter and you will get all the various shortcuts including the their associated letters. Press left and right arrows to toggle quick nav on and off.

Cheers,
