Ask for a secondhand one on the various lists for buy/sell and just keep a Pay as You Go sim card, which you use just occasionally. That's what I do with my old one.
It's then always there as a spare should you need it. -- Carol carol.pearson29@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ---- Original Message ---- From: "Ibrahim Gucukoglu" <ibrahim_gucukoglu@xxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, June 09, 2009 4:50 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Voice Diary.
Hi. The Tadi and voice diary products along with the parrot organisers have all been discontinued and are now obsolete product lines. Your best bet would be to do as Barbra suggests, buy a cheap mobile phone like the Nokia 6120 classic which incorporates all the basic functions such as calendar, calculator, alarm clock, contacts as well as being a spare phone. You can expect to pay around £130 for this phone plus depending on your talks license anything from £50 to £150. All the best, Ibrahim. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mandy" <mandy.MJC@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, June 09, 2009 4:41 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Voice Diary.Hi Moti. I think the Tadi is the one I looked into buying - seems nobody can get hold of it any longer and certainly I searched in RNIB catalogue with no matches found. Thanks for replying though. Mandy, I do know about a good voice diary that is called: Tadi It's made by Israeli developer. As I do know, you can ask about this one in RNIB. I do know that many Israeli blind users like it. I purchased the NANO from Steve Nutt but it is not as good as I expected, when putting phone numbers in you cannot scroll through them to read them nor pause nor slow the thing down so if it is a mobile number you have to try to remember the whole of that number, there are other aspects of it which I don't like and have come to the conclusion that there is nothing available under £1000 plus. I saw the voice diary mentioned on a sheet which appears to have been compiled by the RNIB. Anybody know anything about this?
