Hi Chris, I assume the laptop in question is designed to run with Vista. If not specifically stated, then it would be more than wise to run the Vista Upgrade Advisor first, or at the very least contact the manufacturer to confirm or otherwise. If he really insists on migrating to Vista, I would strongly advise he gets sighted help. It will re-boot from time to time, and you may be left without speech. I would also strongly advise that he at least ensures that his Screen Reader is up to Vista support. The XP Installation will be overwritten, but programs, settings files, etc., should remain intact. Oh yes, and he may wish to get in a supply of Vallium. He wishes to upgrade to Vista, using the upgrade DVD-ROM. Can he install Vista using this method without sighted assistance and rely on speech? Also, what will happen after the upgrade's complete? Will his XP installation be overwritten with the new Vista installation, as well as keep his programmes, files and settings, or will it just keep his programmes, settings and files. Thanks in advance. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
