A virtual machine can be thought of as a real computer running on top of your host. It's just another way of running another operating system, with the advantage that a reboot is not required. It can be used, for example, to try another operating system, to use applications that are not compatible with your host operating system, etc. I just use it for pure fun because I like to know how things work. Hope this helps.

What is virtual machine all about? When would one use it? and how is it an advantage?
