Hi Mandy, I don't know Philips, but personally I would steer clear of Brother and Compaq. (had both) Sony Vaio and Toshiba Satellites have been good though. A former colleague is keen on IBM Thinkpads, and what I saw in the year they were with me didn't cause me to disagree. Outside of that, I'd suggest staying with Intel Pentium processors or their Dual Core variety, mainly because using adaptive technology with anything less puts you in a minority situation. Thanks George point taken. Do you know anything about Phillips laptops? In fact: which laptops would you recommend?> Mandy. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of George Bell Sent: 15 April 2007 00:25 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Vista. Personally speaking, I'd try and leave Vista alone for now, and see if anyone has any laptops which are Vista approved, but come with XP.=3D20 I have Vista on my system at home here, and wish I didn't have to. And it's only on here because of some on-going development work I do which needs to run with Vista. I've been almost 20 years working with Windows and supporting it in one way or the other, but Vista just sucks. I'm just praying that it won't be too long before Microsoft fix some of the bugs and annoyances and produce a Service Pack for it. Otherwise, in the not too distant future, I swear this system is likely to out through a first floor closed window on to a stone patio. Hi. I'm thinking of buying a new laptop: price is a major consideration and I know there was a lot of talk about laptops last year - I want something as small as possible, I am quite fond of my Toshiba so am wondering whether to stick with that or to try something else. All the new models have Vista is it best to go for one of those or just for a vista capable model?
