Hi

I don't believe this is an ISP issue, or a problem with your antivirus software as this would not block safe websites such as the RNIB talking catalogue.

I would hazard a guess and say that a setting in Internet explorer has been changed and this maybe stopping the browser giving you access to certain sites.

You say that you have internet explorer 6. I would try installing internet explorer 7 as it has several improvements over internet explorer 6 and is also more secure. If there is indeed a problem with a setting somewhere then a fresh installation will probably fix this.

It is not recommended that you continue to use internet explorer 6 anymore as it does have security issues.

Cheers

Darren.

Subject: [access-uk] Virgin.net ISP

Hi Everyone

Is there anyone who accesses the Internet via virgin.net who could help me?

I am unable to log into the RNIB Bookstream Service or the Talking Book catalogue. I can access the Log In page but, when I enter my e-mail address and password Internet Explorer times out. I have established that other people can log in using my details, and I can access other pages on the RNIB website. I
have tried, without success, to log in on my husband's computer.

I am using Internet Explorer 6 which I know is rather elderly, but it has not prevented me from accessing lots of other websites.

I have run Superantispyware and Spybot Search and Destroy and fixed all the problems, as far as I know. I have tried disabling the firewall. I have not tried
disabling the anti-virus software yet. That might be next.

If someone who uses Virgin.net ISP could contact me off-list, I would be interested to see if they are having the same problems as I am. The ISP has to be Virgin.net, NTLWorld or Blueyonder, or any other Virgin ISPs will not do: I know that someone going in via NTLWorld is not having these problems.

My address is pele.west@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks

Pele West
