It sounds to me like you need to have a Virgin smart phone and not just a smart
phone to use it with your Virgin landline.

allows you to connect to a wireless network and then make calls from your smart

At first glance I did note that the keypad on the app did not have keypad
numbering but is manageable, As we have a talk unlimited bundle on our home
phone this might save a couple of bob but not sure as yet if it’s worth the
bother! Anyone else any experience of using it?
