Yeah, I would, and try the airing cupboard to ensure it's dry.

That's very assuring, David, and great advice. I'll
leave the Stream well alone until tomorrow.

Cheers

No experience of doing this with a Victor Reader but did
exactly this with a Pure PocketDab 1000 radio after West
Ham lost on Penalties in the 2006 FA cup final to
Liverpool. No I did not throw it down the toilet
deliberately but must have been distracted! Anyway the
radio eventually fully recovered. I also recovered a
digital hearing aid which went in a pocket in the washing
machine . I find that you need to wait 48hours and would not
recommend trying to use the device until then. Presumably
if there is water or dampness in the device a premature
attempt to restart it may short something.

Subject: [access-uk] Victor Reader Stream down the toilet

Hi all

I've just dropped my Stream down the toilet while it was
playing (Stop laughing). If you must know, I had the
stream in a top pocket and was adjusting the fittings on
the seat so, thankfully, it was a clean toilet.
I took the back off the Stream and the battery out then
laid all on a towel in the airing cupboard to dry. Has
anyone else successfully dried out their Stream and got
it working properly again after a dunking?
As a boy-scout precaution, if it is defunct, I'd like
suggestions for a replacement. Isn't there a player
that's smaller and has an FM radio built in? Wonder what
my insurance is like.
Cheers

Barry
