I don't know Vista, but why not initially just remove Norton from the start
menu?

I was actually thinking of doing an Alt F4 to stop Norton then uninstall it.

I'm really not sure exactly what to do as I don't want to mess up a brand 
new computer.  I think I'll ask on the list to se if anyone has done it 
recently.
