Sounds Andy as if you could do with a second soundcard or external
synth.  Sure JFW would support either of these, but the second
soundcard would be a cheaper option.

I have a secondhand Apollo synth on my audio computer to prevent
access software getting in the way.

Very glad and relieved to hear that Vista doesn't seem to have to stop
recording of streams, and the linked article explained it nicely.
