Andy, this is interesting indeed as the other Andy is
pursuing this
question on the Goldwave list. He's been told there that
someone is
recording streams using an external USB card and he reckons
to be
having no trouble.

Maybe I should have a think about a well worded Google
search on this
subject, but I sure don't want to end up with a PC where I
cannot
carry on doing what I've taken for granted this past couple
of years
or so.

Wouldn't it be interesting to know what broadcasters here
think about
the recording of internet streams? Seeing how people have
been
recording radio programmes for as long as anyone can
remember, and
they've even harvested long lost recordings because of
this, where
exactly lies the problem? It isn't as though you can get
really
decent music recordings this way; streams often leave a
good deal to
be desired, qualitywise.

Cheers,

Hi Carol -

Having got Goldwave recording streems fine from my XP
machine, I've
just
been trying to do the same on my Vista laptop, but when I
look under
the
volume tab under prefereences in Goldwave, There is just a
list of
hardware
devices, such as speakers, mic, headphones, there is no
mono/stereo
check
box as there is on my XP machine, this may be about my sound
card on
my
Vista machine more than about Vista itself, but either way,
I can't
record a
streem on the laptop! Gold wave does play other recorded
files under
Vista
though!
