Hi Steve, OK, as a novice to DVD players, are they, say, as accessible
as CD players? Anything to look for/recommendations? Think I'd like a
recorder if it would be usable; if not maybe I'll have to go down the
video route which seems a bit daft for now. Any further thoughts from
anyone welcome.

Hi Richard,
DVD is obviously the best choice, unless you want to record directly to
a computer hard disk, as I do. But DVD offers superb quality, without
the dropout of video, without the hiss, crackle, worn-out tapes, and so
on.

After 16 years or so, looks like the rewind motor on my talking Sharp
video has gone. If videos are really on the way out, what do people
think is the best option to replace it? I'm not a great tv addict, but
