they are completely correct, unless they are the end user with that exemption they are eligible for the full rate of VAT. FYI ATW do not order equipment on anyone's behalf.

Subject: [access-uk] VAT on equipment for the blind

Hi All
My council has approve some funding for equipment for me.

Does anyone know if my council is right regarding the following.

They say that they cannot order equipment without being charged VAT.
So they are saying, the workaround this, is for them to transferee money
To my bank account, (individual budget scheme)
and then, I order the kit, and then no VAT would then be payable.

Surely a council can place an order on behalf of
A disabled individual, and still not have to pay VAT.

~What if it was ATW placing the order!

Reghards, Derek
