I take your point about the mods Jim. But the RNIB do seem to be a bit haphazard about this.

It would be great if Panasonic decided to sell their new talking freeview televisions to us for zero VAT :)

Hi Mike,

The possible reason you couldn't get VAT exemption from RNIB for high
visability clothing is that there is no additional adaptation to make it
useable by a VI person.  Whereas, for example, adding speech access to a
product is an adaptation to make it useable by a VI person.

That's the way I read the rules on VAT exemption anyway.

This all sounds a bit ridiculous. I'm all for us getting VAT exemptions on
as many things as possible but why should an iPad be exempt simply because
it features an accessibility option?

A few days ago the RNIB wouldn't let me have a VAT exemption on an article
of hi-vis clothing to stop me getting run over...or tayzered.
