Hi Christine,

That method does not work for me, either with JAWS or Window-Eyes.  Best way
is Alt-E, then S for Purge Messages.  You will be asked are you sure, just
answer yes.  Remember, this is only for IMAP, not POP3.

alternatively, once you have done the delete thing either pressed delete and
moved on or pressed the control and letter d, you can purge the messages,
when your about to read a message that hasn't been open and there isn't one
open, (between reading messages) press alt and r followed quickly by letter
e.  Wait then a few seconds an your jaws will carry on reading so you know
its worked,Christine.
