I'd agree, Duxbury is the most configurable out there for sure. But Easy
Converter, not Producer, is not that bad.

Hi Claire. Duxbury is the most well known and the most reliable. you could try
some of the free offerings but they are not good for the most part. I tested
practically all of them including dolphin easy producer and braille maker which
are paid and hated all of them. In the end I buried my pride and bought duxbury
outright which worked fine. Index offer a list of all the software, you can
access it at the following link.

etc. and that doesn't bother me at all, as long as it achieves the end result
that's the main this. What would be my options in terms of translation
software? Is Duxbury my only option?

PS: you will also need to go through some specific steps to configure the
printer for use with windows, again I am more than happy to give you a hand.
you have to add the printer as a generic text only printer.

Hi Claire,
Absolutely no problem, although you will need to hope your
piggy-bank has a few pennies in it 😊
You will need what is known as a USB to Parallel adaptor cable. However,
be aware that not all such cables work, but if you give us a call in the
New Year, Kevin, our engineer, can tell you which one to get.
Cost generally is under £15.

Subject: [access-uk] Using an Index embosser with Windows 10
Hi all, I am sending this question out to a few lists in one go as I want
to make sure I ask in as many places as possible, so hope you can help.
Does anyone know if the Index basic s embosser can be configured to work
with Windows 10 at all? I know this is a really old embosser, but I'm just
wondering if there is anything that can be done at all to configure it for
use with Windows 10 and Jaws and NVDA. If this can be done, how easy or
difficult is this to do?
