Hi Peter B, For one thing, if you are using skype typing chat, the jaws scripts allow text to be spoken back and forth, just like in MSN Messenger. Window Eyes 6.1 won't let you get this info, you'll have to use the WE cursor. I am using Jaws 8. I also have Window Eyes 6.1, but prefer to use Jaws when I intend to go online with Skype. There is a skype list put out by Ibby Karbhari and it is very informative. You can get signed onto his list only by emailing him directly at: mailto:ibbyk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx with a request to join the SkypeWorldwide discussion list. Use your jaws or invisible cursor to find the information as to which program is trying to connect to skype. alternatively you can virtualize the window with insert+control+wand copy its contents to the clipboard to paste into a mesage to the list.Programs that would connect to the skype api and make skype ask for permission are, for exampel, SKREad, answering machine programs for skype such as SAM and Pamela, etc. hth Doris At 02:52 PM 1/30/2008 +0000, you wrote:Hi Jackie, I believe this is the JAWS Skype scripts. It is telling me that another program wants to use Skype, and do I want to allow this, allow it but ask later, or not allow it. My feeling is to go with the latter because JAWS isn't telling me what the other program is, and says there could be a security threat if I allow it. But I don't want to disable something else that might need to use it, if you see what I mean. Any suggestions please? Many many thanks to everyone for their help. I wanted to do this on my own so closed my eyes, held my breath and did (smiles). I'm not a great installer of programs if all is working, but I've been curious to try out Skype and felt the only way to ever know what it's like is to get on with it.
