Thanks Tom. So far, I have installed the program and the Lame Encoder. I
have got rid of the help tips message when opening the application, and just
had a bit of a quick tour. I will have a more thorough mess around with it
over the next few days.

Here's a link to an mp3 file where you learn how to download and install
Audacity plus installing the Lame Encoder to allow you to save in mp3
format.
It then gives you the very basics on how to edit an audio file and it
couldn't be much simpler.
