Oh right I did, will I turn it back on again! I guess it was irritating me as I
did not know the Alt y and Alt N commands. I know what I am putting on the
computer surely!!!

Got that thanks Barry. Do you recommend one keeping that control re blocking
programmes or do you remove it?

    Eleanor,

When the Laptop boots. There's a Boot Menu that will appear. It's hard to
give you exact instructions without knowing the system , from the point of not
being able to see the screen. I would wait maybe about 15 seconds and press 1,
followed by enter. Give it 3 seconds then try this again. If you're lucky
this will boot you into Normal mode.

I can do this on my machines because I am used to their noises, boot times
etc.

You can hit alt y for yes, and alt n for no on the User Account Control
(UAC). Which is most likely what the prompt is about.

    Regards,

    Barry.

    Hi

I have been driving myself crazy and wonder if anyone would be able to help
and if said person would be prepared to call me or give me their number. I
have this new laptop. It has Windows 7. My brother got it all up fine and I
installed my screen reader. However I tried to update it and it did not work
for some reason. I think it all has to do with this permissions thing with
Windows 7. Anyway all I want to do is get to basics. I am ot great with
keyboard commands and without any magnification and speech, I am useless. Have
had to turn off the laptop using on/off switch and now it is starting up in
safe mode and I want to get it back to ordinary windows startup and then I want
to try again to run narrator. I even had that running at one point and then
lost it when I turned off the laptop. I can hit the windows key and then r but
then I am getting this thing up about allowing, and there is a yes and a no. I
do not even know how to use the keyboard to get it on the yes insead of the
default No that it is at. Would really appreciate any help urgently. Many
thanks.

    Eleanor
