[access-uk] Uninstalling antivirus?

Hello all,
Recently I have purchased a laptop and it came with the software preloaded.
It had ETrust antivirus. Although the laptop did not have much use, the
system became very slow and sluggish. I decided to uninstall the antivirus
as I was told that it could slow the system down.
I have uninstalled it from ad and remove window and looked for it from find
command to see if there was anything else left. What I found was something
called "Panda". I have no idea if this had anything to do with ETrust. It
was in the programme folder in my C drive. I have not had anything to do
with Panda. I tried to delete it and I was told that it is in use, and
could not be deleted. I tried to restore my computer to earlier time
without any luck. The system is still very slow and sluggish.
Does anyone have any idea what I could do part from reformatting the drive?
Using windows xp home with jaws 7.0.
