Hi Martin, yes you can. The information windows needs during install is
provided in an answer file you create, either using windows setup manager,
or alternatively NLite. To run NLite you'll need to install microsoft net
framework.
To get to the setup manager explore your windows cd and go to tools. In
tools you'll find a file called deploy.cab. Unzip that into a folder.
Amongst the extracted files you'll find setup.mgr. Click on it and the
windows setup manager wizard will come up. It will take you through all the
various bits of information windows asks for during installation.
To save you the problem of creating one here's a link to a basic winnt.sif
[answer file].

You can either put the answer file on a floppy disk or, if you are creating a
bootable Windows XP cd, into the i386 directory on your Windows XP CD. Note:
you will need to ad your own product key and change other items such as the
country code, organisation and network. Also, I would change the file name
back to all capitals. It should read like this, obviously without the
quotation marks: "WINNT.SIF" Please read carefully! And make the various
alterations to this file such as adding your own Windows XP product key
before using this file.

Also, this answer file will wipe out the first partition on your hard drive.
It will also change the file system to NTFS and won't install components
such as the games, sample sounds and other items such as MSN Explorer. This
file should also change the Windows layout back to the nicer old style
Windows Explorer interface rather than the Windows XP one. I have had mixed
results with Windows altering the layout back to the old style Windows
Explorer interface.

               Good luck,
                   John.

Subject: [access-uk] Unattended installers?

Hi list:

What are unattended installers? And how far can they go? Could one, for
example, have windows xp and jaws on a disc and put the disc into a
machine
and set it running, and a few hours later, xp comes up with jaws running?
Thanks.

Hope to hear from you soon.

From Martin.
