One solution I've seen is to remove all USB devices such as scanners and 
printers, and try again.

You are certainly not alone with this problem.

I am continually having an error on a #windows XP updat resolve it.  Anyone 
have any idea how I can resolve this issue, all other updates are installing 
just fine.  The update message says

Installing Security Update for Windows XP (KB2862330) (update 1 of 1)...



However this is not happening.
