[access-uk] USPG headphones

Hi list,
I turned on my laptop this evening and plugged in my Bose Soundlink dongle
which is basically a USB headset. Normally my default speakers cut out and
the USB headset takes over. However this evening my speakers don't cut out
and the headset doesn't come on either. I get the tones which would
indicate that the device has engaged but no joy as far as sound is
concerned. Please can anyone tell me what the problem might be and how I
can fix it? Is it possible that a windows update has screwed my settings
somehow? How can I check that it's not my USB ports?
Sorry for all the questions but I really would like to get this sorted.
