t-mobile also advised me that putting TALKS on my phone would invalidate the
warrantee. I know this not to be true but was told it repeatedly so I treat
what they say with a little caution and would rather verify such claims with
an independent source if possible.

Hi Graham

I don't know for sure either Graham, but was told this by a couple of
networks that if you get your phone unlocked, it invalidates the warranty.
Of course, I would expect them to say this if you are wanting away from
where you bought your phone originally. I do know that a network will
charge you a lot more for doing it than your average bloke in a shop or
market though.

It's one reason why I try to buy them unlocked, so that the phone is also
unbranded from any network logo etc.
