Hi Roger, If you have XP Home the second CPU will be sitting their idle because it won't be used by the OS. Are you sure you don't just have Hyperthreading using Intel processors? I have a Dell Dymention workstation at work with 2 Zeon processors which runs slower than my single AMD64 machine at home - both purchased at nearly the same time - one of the crucial things is that I have 2gb of ram in this AMD where as only 1GB in the Dell. Having two processors is very expensive, and only gives real benefits for applications/operating systems that actually use the processors in the correct way. For example, most desktop apps are not designed like this. Thanks. Andrew. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of roger south Sent: 05 September 2005 19:44 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Twin CPU's I'm the one Trace is talking about and it's exactly as she says. But I run XP Home with no problems. Roger You're just jealous because the voices only talk to me. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Spring Flower" <spring.flower@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, September 05, 2005 7:15 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Twin CPU's >I know someone who I think is actually on this list who had a new pooter >and asked that it had plenty of "welly" his words not mine!! and he got two >cpu's and he says it gives him plenty of memory etc, that being the case >and this thing forever locking up on me I decided to go for the whole bit >and then may be it'd work well for a while, its taking forever for the >stuff to come though which is really frustrating. > > I'd heard that xp home won't work the two cpu's. > > Trace > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Andrew Hodgson" <andrew@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Monday, September 05, 2005 4:26 PM > Subject: [access-uk] Re: Twin CPU's > > > Hi, > > Try www.aria.co.uk.
