Hi Colin, I'd have to confess that I usually move on after I've read the first two or three in a thread. It would never occur to me to bother to find out how many further posts there were. Once I find myself in familiar territory, I stop reading. Under-quoting annoys me at least as much. By and large, if your post has no nouns in it, it will probably not mean anything when read in isolation. So, as Derek suggests, keep the previous message and delete the rest. However, there are times when keeping the previous post on the end is helpful. As for Derek suggesting the method of "editting" the post to which you are replying to keep the points the original sender makes, then putting your own reply following, this is fine for short posts with, maybe, a couple of answers required, but it does involve the replier in work sorting out what to send or delete. I have used the method before but sparingly. I certainly abhore posts with umpteen previous tacked onto the end, I reckon the worst example of this in my experience, occurred when this group lived on Yahoo and I counted forty, yes I did mean forty, posts tacked onto the original reply. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
