I didn't have to do anything as non-intuitive.

I have resolved my problem but it was not intuitive.

I went to the view menu and under the more options menu I selected internet radio. As iTunes do not sell radio streams as far as I know, it had no choice but to switched me out of the iTunes store to my internet radio streams. Once here I found that pressing control 1 loaded my Music library as normal rather than taking me round in circles back to the music part of the store.

A little obscure and probably there is a better way of doing it but at least I am no longer trapped in the store.
