Some very good point s there Amro. Design that ends up increasing usability for all has to be a good thing. Anything that moves us away from specialist products, even a little bit, has my vote. Also, to those who criticise the price, you don't have to buyit! There's plenty of alternatives. I cannot aford one, and I do not feel deprived or that I'm mising out in some way. Just my thoughts. As well, this Tissot Silent model isn't specifically made for VI | users. The idea behind it is to be able to check the time without people | around you noticing and as it happens we can benefit from this touch crystal | technology. To my knowledge no other watch makers are using this technology | which's, IMHO, a very clever idea as it can offer you the functionality of a | digital watch while maintaining the elegant classic look of an analogue | watch. And to be fair, Tissot has models which are quite more expensive than | the Tissot Silent; take for instance the Tissot Touch models. | | | | The main point is that Tissot produced a mainstream product with added | functionality which brings us to a same playing field level with the sighted | user, and I think that's a very good practice and just hope other businesses | would start following this approach. | | | | After all, we can now enjoy this discussion rather than living in a world | where you have to take what you're given and be thankful. | | | | You can tell that I'm very passionate about this watch can't you?! *Smile* | | | | Just my two pence worth. | | | | Amro B | | ----- Original Message ----- | From: "Graham Page" <gpage@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> | To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> | Sent: Tuesday, August 09, 2005 1:19 PM | Subject: [access-uk] Re: Tissot Watch Users | | | > and at that price it wants to be elegant as well. preferably it should | > make | > the tea, cook the dinner and clean the house as well! | > | > For something that is just a time piece I would need some convincing that | > this is anything but an extreme con. | > | > I am in to Braille and use things like the Braillenote which is certainly | > extremely expensive because, though cheaper in real terms than a few years | > ago, Braille cell technology is still expensive. but unless you are | > heavily | > into sport and need a watch that stands a good chance of survival in | > water, | > or you earn wages typical of a top end premiership footballer, this price | > would probably deter most would-be buyers especially when braille watches | > are still available for a quoarter of the price. | > | > Cheers | > | > Graham | > Graham Page | > | > | > Hi Darran and all, | > | > The watch is grate.
