Hi Catherine.

To be honest, i've experienced these problems with the newer version but not with the older version which i'm still using. would you like me to send you that one? it works fine with any version of jaws. It also is just the way i think an email client should be, layed out so you can be productive and get on with your day instead of going round in circles from an accessibility prispective.

cheers,

Mo.

Hi Mo,

I tried using Thunderbird for a while with JAWS and had some problems
with it so gave up. I wonder if you've experienced these problems or
if you've got any ideas?

The first problem I had was when composing a message, trying to put
things in the cc field. It seemed like you had to change a combobox
from saying "to" to saying "cc" but whenever I did that I would lose
whatever I'd already put in the "to" field. Also JAWS wouldn't read
the contents of the to/cc field properly and kept saying it was in a
table. Also I never found a way to create a group in the address book
- I could create and name a new group, but could not find a way to add
people to it. Hmmmm those are all I can remember at the moment...have
you any ideas?

Thanks,
Catherine

Hi Carol.

I've been using jaws and the major screen readers for years with
thunderbird without any problems! i'm surprised you couldn't get it to
work. in the past, i've made sure jaws works then sent people a portable
version which they can both install to their computer, and use on a pen.
If you don't mind, i'll give you a call tomorrow to discuss this
further, is there any particular time that's convenient? drop me a note
off list if you wish. as for the thunderbird file, i've yet to test the
latest version properly once i have i'll see about posting the portable
copy to list. it seems to work a lot better than outlook. i've been
using it since 2004 i think it must be. outlook was always too clunky
for me not to mention the fact i was tied to 1 system and couldn't carry
a copy with me on a pen.

all the best,

Mo.
