Hi Anne,
I have been speaking to George Bell of Techno-Vision Systems, and he advised
me that to troubleshoot this error, I should download the Windows Installer
Cleanup Utility. I believe this is the one:-
https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2438651/how-to-troubleshoot-windows
-installer-errors
This found no problems with my system, and when I selected "Not Listed" it
said the troubleshooter couldn't identify the problem.
George advised me not to delete the c:\sheriff folder, but I have had
success doing this before. If I delete the c:\sheriff folder, then I can
almost guarantee that the installer will work. So why do you caution not to
delete that folder in this situation?
Please advise? I don't want to be spending hours on this, as I have some
work to do tomorrow and want to use Duxbury to do it.
All this came about because of the Windows 10 1803 update, which made Dux
think it was no longer activated.
I must say, this is one of the worst activation systems I've ever seen in my
life, even for legitimate users. I know you have to protect your software
from piracy, but JAWS and other software have survived the update without
thinking they are no longer activated.
Again, thanks for any help.
All the best
Steve
