Hi Tracy.
Thanks for all the information regarding the Hilton hotel group. Sounds pretty busy and expensive, so I'll need to be careful, particular within the bar. My trainer only told me about the hotel on Friday so I'm sure he has much more to tell me. I was just over-keen to get an idea as to what to expect. I really do hope that I'm not going to be alone there. I must admit I prefer the training centres with all the staff and vi people around. My new dog is coming up from Newcastle on Friday to spend the weekend with us to see how he gets on, so perhaps it's not really settled yet, but I'm sure he will be fine. His name is Baker. He's 18 months old and is a cross lab retriever. My first dog was a Lab and my current on is a Retriever, so a mix of both will be very interesting. I'll need to get as much music onto minidisks as I can before I go. You know what it's like. I'll probably have loads of music and never get around to listening to it. Thanks again for all the stuff. Best wishes. Andy

didHi Andy.
First of all, many congratulations on your new guide dog!
I haven't been to the particular Hilton you are training from, but Itrain at the Leicester Hilton in June 2003. All the Hilton's areprettymuch the same really. There is a bar, but it's very very expensiveto buydrinks in there! There is also a restaurant obviously, which doesprettygood food. At the Hilton Leicester there was a carvory every night, plusyou could choose from the other menu too which had fancier meals onit. You'll probably be told that Guide Dogs will pay for two courses, and ifand theyou have a third you'll have to pay for it yourself. Go for the mainhas adessert, that's what I did!
In your room you'll find tea/coffee making facilities, a TV, whichrooms arefew satellite channels but not many, and a few radio stations. theweek ora good size, and there is plenty of room to store clothes etc for aso. Make sure you take enough clothes to last you plus some extra.Youdon't want to use the laundry service at the hotel as it's veryexpensive! The Hiltons are primarily set up for business travellers, and thusthebathlaundry service is taylored to their needs too...
In the bathroom you'll find a shower and bath, plus nice big fluffytowels! there are some complementary shampoos etc, but take yourown asorwell...
Be sure to take something to do in the evenings, like an MP3 playersomething. Your training will finish at five and you'll needsomething todo in the couple of hours after your evening meal and after feedingandbutgrooming your dog...
Obviously I don't know how many people are set to do class with you, outon mine there were three. I can't believe your district team haven't furnished you with all this info, it's very bad to expect you to find all thisit'sfor yourself! They should have sent you some info about the hotel andandfacilities, told you how many are on class etc...
Now if there's anything else I can help with feel free to ask awayone ofI'll do my best!
What is your dog's name and breed out of interest...
All the best now,
Tracy.

Not sure if I should take a radio with me or my minidisk as I don'tit'sthat may be available there for me to pass my nights. I'm sure ifnotclues.got a bar, I'll not be long sniffing one out in the viscinity..
Best wishes.
