John, I cannot answer the bit rate question, but from the bulk of opinions I've seen on the Tesco Download service I'd have to say, don't bother.

People are particularly peed off with stuff they've bought off the old Tesco site and, having lost it, can't get the extra four downloads promised on the original site. Tesco, of course, point to the small print allowing them to do the dirty on people, but then they would, wouldn't they?

Yes, I know they offer MP3 downlaods now, but all comments seem to point to the fact that Itunes and other sites give better quality downloads.

I won't buy downloads if I cannot sue them personally in what ever way I want.

I can send you the links to comments I've found on Tesco's service if you like. Seems Tesco is in a beligerant litigiousmood at the moment.

Cheers,
Ray.

I've spent an hour on the Tesco music download site trying to find out what
bitrate they sell their mp3s at. No luck though. Obviously it's a secret.
Can anyone enlighten me? I'm looking for 320 which is as close as possible
to true CD quality.
