Having to turn pictures on suggests a major failure here.

Has anyone asked why this is so essential?

George.

Hi carol and those of you wanting to use the main tesco.com
site.

I've been using the main site for, oh some two years or more
now, and I'd had a thought that I'd had a problem back at
the beginning when I started to use the main site, but
couldn't remember exactly what it was.

Well I did manage to find some details about it and how I
solved it from way back then.

My problem was, as others have described, concerning the
updating of the basket, and thus the updating of orders.

I solved it by firstly turning pictures on. I'd had them
turned off from when we used dial-up, but really there's no
need when using broadband.

To turn them on, start internet explorer, go to tools, go to
internet options, and navigate to the advanced tab.

In here you need to down arrow until you find something
that's says pictures on or pictures off.

To turn them on just press spacebar.

Now tab to apply and press enter, then tab to okay and enter
to bring you out of the page.

I've no idea why this worked. I can only assume that
someinformation is being passed using images, which is used
when updating the basket. AS you know the basket is updated
at the bottom of the page as you change it. When pictures
is turned off this doesn't happen, but when they're on it
works fine...

I discovered this for myself just by accident. Tesco
themselves couldn't really help. they told me to do the
following, so you might as well do this too.

Start internet explorer.
go to "tools,
go to internet options,
go to "temporary internet files settings" and enter on it.
Here you'll see 4 radio buttons. Make sure yours is set on
"check for newer versions of web pages every visit".

Apply and okay this to bring you out of the page.

See how you all go with these suggestions, but the pictures
thing definitely works for me. I've just tried turning them
back off again just to see, and I was back to not being able
to update my basket via that main site. Of course the
access site is different and works in a different way, so
you needn't have pictures turned on for that to work
correctly.

Let me know how it goes for you...

Regards,

Tracy.
