At the very least a TV that has an analogue tuner would have to have a digital set top box added to it. Most TVs unless very very cheap brought between 5 and 10 years ago will have a SCART socket on the back, and practically every set top box will be capable of this kind of bookup which is the most convenient method. However TVs older or that do not posess a SCART will have to use an RF out of the set top box (if it has one) and tune one of the channel presets to the set top box. This is where the difficulty will lie for older people and those not so fully embraced in the digital revolution. There are now quite a lot of TVs with integral digital recievers and if you were out shopping this would be a good idea to look for once you are sure you can easily get Freeview in your area. So a replacement is long overdue. That is where my problems started. In a very few years time the analogue signal is to be switched off and digital will reign supreme. Does that mean all analogue TV's will be thrown away as useless? If so buying one now is to have only a limited use before a replacement is needed. When looking at the specifications it will often say no to a digital tuner. Does this mean that although the set may be a flat screen it is only an analogue one. Any guidance will be most appreciated. Many thanks Roger Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
