Hi Martin
What I mean is that you need to be watching the same channel you are
recording whether it is Freeview or Freesat. For example, I couldn't watch
Coronation Street and record Panorama at the same time regardless of whether
it is Freeview or Freesat. But I am going to investigate though whether you
can watch a channel on one platform while recording a programme on the
other. My husband doesn't see why you couldn't do that so I'll check to
make sure.
I'll send you the remote control document off list.
Kind regards,
Jackie Brown

Hi Jackie
Firstly, could you forward me the word document regarding the remote please,
e-mail at bottom of message.
Secondly I can't get my head around not being able to record one program and
not be able to wwatch another if the TV has twin tuners.
Do you mean that you can't watch on freesat and record another program on
freesat or can you not record on freesat and watch on freeview?
Thanks for the info so far.

Hi Philwhich is useful for us.
You have to use an external drive or pen. You can do this whether the
TV is tuned to Freeview or, in our case, Freesat.
I must admit that the more I use this TV, the more I like it. The EPG,
even with it tuned to Freesat, still displays the programme names,
channel number, and programme information. You can start using the
catchup feature if someone calls or comes to the door, and resume where
you left off. It is easy to switch between Freeview and Freesat as well
We've got rid of a lot of wires where our TVonics and Sky+ HD boxesHDMI ARC which the Playbase doesn't.
were connected. The Sonos Beam does exactly what I want it to now as
well because it has the HDMI ARC to allow us to turn the Sonos up and
down with the TV remote which the Playbase wouldn't do on the LG. We
are both very pleased with it all, accessibility is great. We may go
for a Chromecast, but will wait to look at the new one when it emerges,
we aren't desperate right now to buy one.
I don't want to influence anyone either way, I can only speak from our
experiences. I would have gone for another Samsung had it got two tuners.
But the models with Freeview and Freesat were big and much more expensive.
For what the LG costs, it's great, we are both really pleased with it.
Kind regards,

Hi Jackie
Very interesting regarding the LG TV. I had decided to go for a
Samsung TV but since you informed us about the LG TV I am now undecided.
When you say that you can record on the TV, does this mean there is a
built in hard drive or do you need to purchase an external drive? I
presume it's only freeview channels you can record. I also have Sky.

Hi Martin
I'm very pleased with the TV so far. Voice Guide is good, and I really
like the way the EPG guide is so accessible. It uses the Serena
Vocalizer voice which, in my view at least, is better than the TTS used
on the Samsung models.
It looks pretty easy to record though I haven't done so as yet. The
main problem I am experiencing is with the Sonos Playbase. Since it
doesn't have an HDMI socket, only an Optical output, I am struggling to
get it working on the new TV as it did on the Samsung. I've been given
some technical support by Sonos, but it seems that the TV remote
control won't turn the volume of the Playbase up and down. But this is
a problem I am hoping to overcome when I upgrade to the Sonos Beam. It
wasn't part of my plans I can tell you, but that seems to be the only
way forward to solve the issue because newer TVs require support from the
familiar with the TV.
As for the TV remote, it definitely has the voice assistants built into
it, I've had it working. If I press and hold the Speak button, Google
will pop up so you can talk to her. I've also enabled the LG skill on
Alexa and linked my LG account to it. This means she will do things
like change channels or turn the TV off. It's not a deal breaker, but
I will let you have more information as I experiment and become more
The LG app is also accessible, believe it or not, and does give you
some control of the TV if you want to use it that way.
I hope that helps for now? More soon!

Jackie Brown

Hi Jackie
Can you give any more feedback on your new LG now that you've had a
little time to play around. I mean have you come across any areas that
are not accessible? Are the EPG, record etc features easily
accessible? Are there any apps that arn't accessible, the last TV I
purchased was a samsung, I was assured that the pre installed apps were
accessible only to find they weren't.
As brought up by Ibrahim Did you find out whether you had a magic
remote or does the standard one offer access to all the voice guidance?
Thanks in advance for any feedback, positive or negative.

quick update to my search for an accessible TV. I've finally gone
with an Lg 43UN73006LC 43" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV with Google
Assistant & Amazon Alexa. My sisters-in-law and I went to the shop
this morning so that I could ask the relevant questions and have a
play with the TV. The chap turned on both Voice Guide and Audio
Description, and let me handle its remote control. The voice is
English Serena so she is better than the voice used on Samsung models
to be honest. This particular TV has dual tuners, Freeview and
Freesat which was one of the features I was looking for. Voice Guide
reads all the menus, channel information and the EPG. They didn't
have Alexa or Google Assistant configured, but the one remote control
does it all, there is no need to buy a Magic remote. It's coming on
Saturday when the
bought them at the same time.
My only reservation is whether the Sonos Playbase will allow me to
control the volume of the TV through its remote control. The
Playbase has an Optical cable that goes between it and the TV. The
newer models, Beam and Arc, have HDMI ports on them. I don't see why
it wouldn't work because our existing TV works perfectly with
Playbase, we

So if anyone is looking for a new TV, then throw LG into the mix.
I'll get a Chromecast eventually so I can cast any external apps that
aren't accessible through my phone.
Thanks for all the help, feedback and potential model numbers, it's
been an interesting week or two.
Kind regards,
