Hi All

Thanks for such a quick response.

OK, I didn't know that there was another service I could opt for as well as
being ex-directory. I've often been told that people's numbers are
ex-directory when I've phoned Directory Enquiries, and have opted to be
ex-directory myself for the last 11 years - but I always assumed that that
meant that my number wouldn't appear in the phone book and so wouldn't be
available in any listing. I don't personally agree that companies should be
able to buy lists of telephone numbers or addresses from anyone!!!

hi, don't forget that many legitimate companies withhold their number too.

I work for the BBC and am always rather fed up when I call somebody and
can't get hold of them because they have this 'reject withheld number'
option on their phone. Very annoying.

I suspect many businesses withhold their number.
