Eleanor, it was a stand alone scanner.  It was the first one I ever saw.
Originally it had the Eureka voice which was dreadful, but we later got
Dectalk which improved it considerably.  I remember well how excited I was
to read my first print book.  It took ages, scanning pages and reading them,
but it was well worth it.
