I remember the ax 20, the bbc b and master with the horrid mimk speech, the
appolo synths, the braille and print machines, all that. Wow, and the a3000
computers with mastertouch on them, yay! I didn't get rid of my first
laptop which was a dos six 386 until the screen bust.

Funnily enough, on the BCAB list, they've been talking about Braillen print
machines. But now the subject has moved on.

Does this phrase ring any bells for anyone, baring in mind it wount sound
right.

"Ready master."

That's what the thread's moved onto, the Vincent workstation. I used this
so much in my primary school days.

One more thing I've mentioned on that list. Did anyone own or use a Brother
AX20 which had the speech box attached? I got 1 and as an immature 9 year
old used to love to get it to swear. But the funniest one was its
pronunciation of Hazel, Hazzel.

lastly, who learned to use the Opticon? I tried and failed miserably with
it. I actually had to train 2 fingers as my index finger had some sort of
injury when I first started. Just as well that I did though. My fingers
were just too sensative to the pins and they used to hurt after a while. I
wasn't very good at tracking with the camera either, and some lettters were
difficult to decipher as well. was glad to give it up. they cost £3000, and
those not in the know were convinced they'd be great when shopping etc. My
parents had to go through charities to get 1, and that was true for the AX20
too.

Jill.
