Hi Mark and all,

Below is the last up date Marcus posted to the Talks list re V2.1.8.

BTW, I wish the Talks guys would start a Talks users news letter or a Talks announcement list only as many folks suggested. The ranting you sometimes get on the Talks list is a bit much.

HTH,

Amro

Copied message says,

"Hi Talks users,

it took us a while to finally get these versions uploaded, but here they are...

First, Talks 2.01.8 is our next release for Series 60:

ftp://audiolife.de/talks60/
<
ftp://audiolife.de/talks60/>
ftp://audiolife.de/60/>

This contains lots of updates to translations that were not entirely
complete in the last version, plus a few bugfixes, like for the problem
where digits where echoed during a call. In addition, this version now also
supports the 6680/6681 (please note that on the 6681, you should turn off
keytones in the current profile if you experience Talks suddenly losing
speech).

In terms of new features, the most important one is probably Support for the
T9 dictionaries: When entering text with T9 enabled, TALKS will not just
read the last letter of the current word, but the complete word, whenever a
key is pressed. When pressing "*" to browse through the selection of words
in the T9 dictionary that match the keys pressed, TALKS will also announce
the new word. Similar, the complete word will be read whenever a letter is
deleted. Thus it is now possible to use T9 easily, and achieve a much higher
speed when entering text messages.

In Braille, you can now also enter digits into text fields without having to
pay attention to text input mode. As in the 9500 version, the Braille driver
is now a separate install, so it can be upgraded independently of Talks.
There are currently two drivers for displays from Handy Tech available -
which one to use depends on the phone model:

    <
ftp://audiolife.de/talks60/HandyTech6630.sis>
ftp://audiolife.de/talks60/HandyTech6630.sis
(for 6630 and 6680/6681)
    <
ftp://audiolife.de/talks60/HandyTech60.sis>
ftp://audiolife.de/talks60/HandyTech60.sis
(for all other Series 60 phones)

TTS versions are exactly the same as in 2.00.3, so no update is needed if
you have already been this version. Otherwise, Eloquence 6.1.47 must be used
if you are still on an earlier version.

---

Finally, you can also find the 2.01.5 release for the Nokia 9200 here:

ftp://audiolife.de/talx9200/
<
ftp://audiolife.de/talx9200/>

This brings the 9200 version in sync again with the 9500 version, e.g. with
regards to the additional keyboard shortcuts:
   [Talks],[Ctrl-Space]: repeat phrase before last
   [Talks],[Backspace]: Mute/Unmute
   [Talks],[Ctrl-Backspace]: unload/load TTS

Enjoy."

Hi,

I've just spotted this latest build of Talks on the Audiolife ftp site.
Would anyone with any literature regarding this mind passing it on? Due to
the postings on the Talks list of late, I've gone nomail from it. I
appreciate there are the archives, but finding these a bit laborious
churning through. TIA.

Cheers,

Mark
