Hi Carl.

The concept of tactile tablets like this has been around for more than 10 years. When I was studying back at RNIB new college in the early 90's, our mobility team would use one of these tablet devices and some software that ran on dos with speech output to develop interactive maps so that we could enjoy the combination of touch and speech and relate them to each other. Obviously, the potential benefits at the time were enormous as she could develop a thermographic image of a route, tack this to the tablet and then create a route image using the software she had, so I who at the time wasn't a very good route learner *smile* would be able to get a feel for it literally. I guess things have moved on since then and this is probably just an enhancement or extension of the original touch tablet technology they had back then, just brought up to date and with the ability to run more powerful and engaging content. The speech we had at the time was the original Apollo, not at all the high quality of speech we have now even on the most basic of systems.

Hope this little insight was useful.

Hi,

I'm looking at the following website:

http://www.rncb.ac.uk/t3/index.html

Has anyone had any experience of using this kit? Any information gratefully
received.
How good is it, etc...

Cheers
Karl
