Hi Dave

I needed to speak to my energy supplier about coming to read the meter
anyway, and when I explained I couldn't read it myself, and preferred an
actual reading to estimated bills, they were very helpful. They offered
me Braille statements, and someone to come out and see if they could put
tactile controls or bump-ons on the system. They are coming later this
month to read the meter and assess the system in one go. But I
explained that I really want the thermostat to talk, or something that
would indicate to me what everything is set to. I don't need bump-ons
as the system on the whole is tactile enough. I thanked them for the
offer of Braille statements though, that is useful. I was pleased that
at least they bothered to help, not all of the utility companies are so
forthcoming.

Hi, as RNIB think it is cheap to put speech chips into things, should
they not be working with heating control companies to produce one? This
would need to be available to the trade rather than to individuals so
think that would be a better route, and they do needto demonstrate thae
process can be simple if that is really the case. I'm sure Daniel would
be a good enough voice for full TTS but if it only has to read key words
and numbers, that's really simple.
