My  thermostat was from British gas, and works like this.

It's a small box on the wall in the hall.

If the dial is turned all the way to the right, the boiler will heat
hot  water tank only.

When the dial is turned to the left there are largedots on the dial.
There is one dot just above the dial.
The idea is to get the dot on the dial, inline with the one just above dial.

So as I turn dial to left the first dot is 10c then 15c and so on up to 30c

I know this is not  a digital control but it maybe worth checking if it can
still be made available.
