Yes, but surely, if they put an advert into their magazine which comes out in May, they ought to honour it! <Smiles>---- Original Message ----

I did phone up and was told that I had missed the date and under no circumstances would I be considered. The closing date had been February 20, incidentally my Birthday, but never mind that. Seems unless one had read the Read-On one missed out. Unfair I think but that is just one opinion on the subject. Ring up talking books and ask I don't know whether you can still be on the pilot project. You might be interested to know, that the RNIB sells the player in combination with the 1 year subscribtion for the rnib booksite/bookclub for £195 too Just thought I'd let you know, Madleen -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Barry Hill Sent: 06 May 2009 16:42 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Talking Book Library Hi EleanorI'm a member and this is the first I have heard of it. However, I haven't had time to read 'Read on', so I amat fault there. I was contacted by the talking library some months ago, but it was just to see how I rated the current service - No mention of the new talking book machine. It's a shame that only new members are eligible. I suppose we could cancel then re-join. I understand that there is a pilot going on at present with regard to this machine but equally I understand that no existing member of the library will be entitled to one of these new books, only new members will receive them. For those of you in the pilot, what do you think of the machine and out of interest did the Talking Book Library contact you directly about this pilot scheme or did you hear about it through Read-on, the Talking Book Library CD sent out to members.
