Hi Steve, Couldn't ageree more. We;ve seen this already with power utility companies too.

n-power even signed us up for a new acount when we were already with them! Taht caused a couple of years of chaos.

Vince.

I understand that this practice is actually legal. Aparently Offtel have actually allowed telecom companies to call you, tell you about a service and send you an information pack. If you do not respond within 14 days then you automatically switch to their service and you can do little about it. One thing which can safeguard this is that, when someone calls, they can not put you onto their system unless you verify who you are.

I think this is totally outrageous and it should be made illegal.

I always thought talk talk too good to be true, and now I know I was right.
leave them alone is what I say. Unfortunately, phone slamming, as it is
known, is more common than ever now.

Hope to hear from you soon.

: Kevin, I wasn't going to comment on this one till I read your email. A
: friend of mine had a cold call from them a couple of months ago, trying to
: persuade her to transfer from BT to them. She said she was interested but
: that she'd want all the materials in braille before she'd transfer. The
: person on the phone told her that there would be no transfer until she
: contacted them and that in the meantime they would send her all the info
she
: wanted in braille.
:
: She never got any information and worse still they transfered her without
: her knowledge or permission and now insist that she has to pay them three
: months line rental. It took two weeks to get her phone off Talk Talk and
: back to BT.
:
: My advice don't touch them with a very long barge pole.

: they've already under estimated the take up! so doesn't bode well for the

planned
: for. there's an article about it on

:
: and as for an 18 month contract! they can go jump in the nearest river. we
: had the original talktalk phone service briefly last year and i wouldn't

: services so far as disabled persons goes has improved out of sight! no
punn
